This role is designed for a dynamic practitioner who thrives at the intersection of theory and application, capable of inspiring students in the classroom and leading competitive engineering efforts in the lab. The ideal candidate will manage a diverse professional portfolio that bridges curricular instruction and extracurricular leadership, fostering a culture of curiosity and high-level problem-solving.Responsibilities Include:Teach four sections of computer science and robotics across the Middle and Upper Schools, which may include instruction in: block based programming, Python, C-family languages, VEX, Arduino, and Raspberry PiLead and mentor curricular and extracurricular robotics and engineering challenges, providing technical guidance and strategic leadership for competitive teamsManage a dedicated Robotics lab environment, ensuring a safe, organized, and innovative space for student-led inquiry and fabricationDesign and implement learner-centered curricula that emphasize object-oriented programming and applied engineeringCollaborate with the Wu Tsai Center for Creative Sciences on initiatives involving design thinking, machine learning, or makerspace managementServe as a compassionate mentor to students, supporting their academic growth and well-being as they navigate complex technical challengesEngage actively in the life of the School, including service as an advisor and participation in department meetings, faculty committees, and school-wide eventsBe available to students during office hours and at other times throughout the day to provide guidance and support as neededMaintain a clean, safe and organized work areaUphold the School’s Core ValuesDemonstrate professionalism and tactStay up to date on industry standards, trends, developments and legal updatesMake timely and ethical decisions both systematically and under pressureComply with School’s reporting policies and proceduresRequired Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in computer science or a related field (advanced degree in computer science or education is preferred)A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the high school levelExcellent computer science and robotics content knowledge, with the ability to teach mathematics preferredAbility to teach math in addition to computer science (preferred)Interest in supporting current co-curricular programsAn unequivocal passion for working with adolescents and supporting them in all facets of their livesDemonstrated commitment and competency in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justiceEagerness to collaborate with other department members in creating meaningful, relevant, learner-centered classroom experiencesAbility to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and the broader school communityStrong work ethic, time management, verbal, written language, and interpersonal skillsIrrespective of own religious orientation, ability to support the School’s mission and values as a school founded in the Episcopal traditionCommitment to well-being as the foundation for growthThe anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000 to $120,000 based on experience.In addition to competitive salary, The Bishop's School offers a comprehensive menu of benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, generous PTO, robust professional development opportunities, and chef-prepared lunch provided to employees at no charge on a daily basis when school is in session.
