Front End Support Engineer

Summary Front-end support engineers are responsible for communicating and discussing design directions with clients in the early stages of server product development. Later, when the Server PCA or system is delivered to the client, he assists clients with related engineering issues or report problems observed by the front-end team back to HQ (Taiwan) for analysis and resolution by the project team.Collect feedbacks and opinions from customer engineering teams and regularly travel to headquarters to report on local works and receive product-related training (2-3 times a year).Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other Duties not listed may be assigned. Technical support/Communication/Issue Resolution - Prevention - 90% of Job· Have ability to Server System / High Performance Computing / GPU Server architecture, motherboard design, and component selection.· Able to provide appropriate Server/HPC design solutions and discussions to clients.· Have ability to system and board level testing and debugging down to components level.· Have knowledge to do component swapping, removal to isolate failures and overall deeper FA· Completes component level trouble shooting (capacitor, resistors, fuse, IC, diode, etc.) and failure analysis· Conduct innovative use of new analytical tools, equipment, and methodologies.· Develop records and perform various failure analysis on systems and components to identity root cause.· Develop formal failure analysis data reporting and present internally and to client. Requires communication with Asia team in emails and conference calls.· Initial discussions with the customer regarding solutions for schedule delays or pulled-in.· Collect feedbacks and opinions from customer engineering teams· Other duties as assigned. Team Leadership - 10% of Job· Responsible for maintaining a positive work environment while supporting the company's culture. · Maintains and strengthens internal, external customer. Communicates and works well with all business partners. Education and/or Experience· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering · 5 years' experience in PC/Server design.· Comprehensive Server / HPC / GPU Server knowledge is essential. (Hardware / BIOS / BMC / CPLD / FPGA, etc.)· Ability to use electronic test equipment and Tool (oscilloscopes / multi-meters / Soldering Iron / Firmware programming Kit / Allegro layout design tool, etc.)· Must be able to speak English. Able to speak Mandarin Chinese is a plus. Essential Skills:· Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.· Knowledge of basic Server OS environment and commands· Familiar with computer software and operating systems and possess the ability to identify and perform software updates (BIOS, BMC, Components Firmware, etc.)· Familiar with design specification documents/requirements for Intel/AMD/ARM/Nvidia platforms and peripheral components solution.· Ability to read and interpret schematics/block diagrams with detailed understanding of server and subassembly functionality.· Ability to read and interpret system board views and board layout details· Effectively communicate concepts and solutions with various levels of the organization.· Effectively liaison between Company and Client. · Must be able to work cross-functionally with minimal supervision.· Requires strong analytical and statistical skills.· Requires flexibility to work overtime for special projects or business supports.· Understands electronic products development process and schedule planning.· Understands electronic products manufacturing processes.
