Director, Emergency ServicesMust-HavesMust have a current Alabama Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license without restrictionsBachelor's degree in nursing is required, along with a Masters, MSN degree3-5 years of progressive nursing leadership experienceAre you a nursing leader with exceptional management and organizational skills to lead our staff of nursing professionals and oversee patient care? In this role, you will direct the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.Minimum EducationAssociate's degree in Nursing required.Bachelor's degree highly preferred.Master's degree MHA, MSN, MBA or related field highly preferred3+ years of experience in Emergency Department Services3+ years of experience in a leadership role highly preferredor equivalent combination of education and/ or experience.Required LicensesMust have a current Alabama Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license without restrictionsRequired SkillsHandle with Care certification and American Heart AssociationBasic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire or transfer.Must have an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS),Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS), andNational Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) within 90 days of hire or transfer.Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) is preferred within one year of employment/eligibility.EMTALA & EHAC training in Healthstream upon hire and once each year following.Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
