Firmware Engineer
This position involves the design, development and maintenance of embedded firmware for our industry leading MediaPro communications product line. Principal responsibilities include the architecture, design and development of real time communications firmware, delivering and maintaining fully tested and documented software.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture, design, development and documentation of firmware to meet MediaPro product family specifications.
Participate in the design, implementation and testing of software products.
Create product documents.
Contribute to and implement project plans.
Participate in design and code reviews.
Customer liaison
Requirements:
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
At least 5 years experience with real time programming for microprocessor, DSP and complex communication network devices
Detailed knowledge of a variety of real time operating systems and development Common
Strong knowledge of multi-threaded real time programming in C
Detailed knowledge of various communications system architectures, including Power QUICC, Power PC processor families; VME and cPCI bus.
Skills:
Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
Strong knowledge of C.
Strong background in the specific technology area in which projects are assigned, such as telecommunications signaling protocols and networks, VoIP and Ethernet
Strong knowledge of multi-threaded programming.
Good technical and interpersonal skills.
Strong customer service orientation.
Desired Capabilities:
Familiarity with ISDN and SS7 signaling
Familiarity with the OSE RTOS
Broad view of the technology and systems they are working with.
Ability to work with little or no supervision.
Other Responsibilities:
Understand in detail, functionality and application areas related to the assigned project.
Participate in design reviews.
Recommend changes to the product specifications, design and documentation.
Generate status reports as required.
