The OpportunityFlooret is looking for a hands-on Controller who takes pride in accurate numbers, reliable processes, and getting the details right.This is an opportunity for an accounting professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and own the accounting function for a growing business. You may be a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager ready to step into your first Controller role, or an early-career Controller with a year or two of experience who is looking for broader ownership and the opportunity to continue growing.We’re looking for someone with a strong accounting foundation who is ready for greater ownership, naturally takes initiative, and wants to build their capabilities alongside the business. You like understanding how things work, investigating discrepancies, tightening processes, and becoming the person the organization trusts when an accounting question needs a definitive answer.As Flooret continues to grow across e-commerce, commerical, and retail, you'll play an important role in building an accounting function that can scale with the business. You'll own the core accounting operation while partnering closely with Finance, Operations, Sales, and leadership.If you're the kind of accountant who sees something that doesn't reconcile and can't comfortably leave it unexplained, you'll probably enjoy this role.What You'll OwnOwn the day-to-day accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.Prepare and analyze financial statements and investigate unusual trends, discrepancies, and variances.Maintain strong accounting processes, documentation, and internal controls as the company grows.Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, and company accounting policies.Own inventory and cost accounting processes and help ensure accurate inventory valuation and COGS reporting.Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and relationships with outside accounting partners.Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, working capital, and financial analysis.Work closely with Operations and Sales to understand what's happening in the business and ensure it is accurately reflected in the financials.Identify opportunities to improve, automate, and scale accounting processes and systems.Provide leadership with accurate financial information and useful insights for decision-making.What We're Looking ForMust HavesBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful ownership of accounting processes. Prior Controller experience is not required.Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, general ledger accounting, and month-end close.Strong Excel skills.Experience working with accounting software or ERP systems.Excellent attention to detail and an instinct for investigating numbers that don't look right.Ability to independently own projects and follow them through to completion.Clear, direct communication style and the ability to work effectively across departments.Nice to HavesCPA or CMA.Experience owning or helping lead an accounting function.Inventory and/or cost accounting experience.Experience in retail, e-commerce, distribution, or another inventory-heavy business.Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems.Experience improving accounting processes or implementing new systems.BenefitsAnnual Performance Bonus100% paid Medical insuranceDental, Vision, Disability, HSA, FSAPaid Parental Leave6% 401k Match15 days PTO
