Production Supervisor

Production SupervisorThe Production Supervisor directs the development and implementation of activities in production areas to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency and materials supply.Position responsibilities include:Supervising the day-to-day activities of manufacturing personnelWorking with the team to develop and continually review key operating metrics to assist workers in solving work problemsImplementing and developing training and productivity improvements through Lean Manufacturing techniquesAnalyzing work orders to estimate worker hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external needsInterpreting specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigning dutiesAssisting in planning flow of materials through department and developing physical layout according to work ordersInterfacing with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are metDirecting workers in repair of products which fail to meet standardsDeveloping, recommending, and implementing measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of productChampioning changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase safety, efficiency of shop, department, or work crewProviding direct supervision to professional individual contributors and/or skilled, support individual contributorsFrequently interacting with subordinate supervisors and functional peer groups. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or schedulesOther duties as assignedBasic qualifications (required skills & experience) include:High school diploma or equivalent is requiredMinimum of 8 years in a manufacturing/production environment with at least 2 years in a supervisory roleDemonstrated prior performance in a mid-volume discrete manufacturing operations leadership role and leading a team of skilled employeesUnderstanding of and experience with ISO approved quality systemsGood knowledge and understanding of technical processes and engineering drawingsStrong understanding of ERP systems (Oracle experience a plus)Must have a valid driver's license and clean DMV recordOther qualifications & desired competencies include:Two-year AA or AS degree or equivalent experience is highly preferredPrior experience in aerospace or similar industry is preferredAbility to effectively lead and motivate employeesDemonstrated effective written and verbal communicationAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructionsLean, Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement training and/or equivalent experience desiredStrong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Uses vision to think beyond the immediate situation, explore multiple potential paths, and adapt decision-making style based on the situational circumstancesInspires, motivates, and empowers people to deliver organizational goals, while also delivering value back to employeesBrings organizational values to life using personality, uniqueness, and the creation of a shared visionChampions the process of change and promotes a culture of quick adaptation while helping others deal with the effects of change and leveraging change management best practicesAssesses the degree of risk and opportunity in plans or actions and takes appropriate action to mitigate them or makes plans to build on the opportunityPhysical demands include:Ability to work in a production environment (constant)Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (frequent)Training travel requirement:This role requires weekly travel from Salt Lake City, UT to Simi Valley, CA for training for the first three months of employment. Training occurs Monday through Friday, three weeks per month. Travel, lodging, meals, and ground transportation will be provided. After the training period, the position is based in Salt Lake City, UT.Salary range for this role is:$65,185 - $92,400AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.ITAR requirement:This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations ("ITAR") and/or the Export Administration Regulations ("EAR").
