Electrical Project Engineer | San Antonio, TX
IMEG is hiring an Electrical Project Engineer in San Antonio, TX, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects while collaborating with senior staff on larger, high complexity work. You'll provide engineering solutions and advice to clients to support positive outcomes through engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for buildings. You'll also work within the project's monetary budget while training, mentoring, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standardsInteract with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively while building and maintaining client relationshipsLead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectivesDocument design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress related to percent complete and fee expendedAnalyze engineering problems and propose solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultantsProvide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, and specificationsImplement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirementsStay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, contributing to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEGPrioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work, identifying and mitigating potential safety risks associated with electrical systemsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goalsIdentify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project ManagerOversee projects through bidding and construction administration phaseRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) License preferred2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industryProficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildingsProficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and energy compliance software such as ComCheck. Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam RevuKnowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) StandardsProficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, BIM software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools; Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.Ability to train and mentor less experienced staffExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.Why Join Us IMEG puts people first-with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact.
