If that sounds like you, we'd love for you to join us!POSITION PURPOSE: A mechanic’s purpose is to act as part of the Service team to provide reliable and timely diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of equipment for internal and external customers. A successful mechanic is highly knowledgeable and able to work on heavy and light diesel, gas, and electrically operated machines with minimal rework needed, within time and financial budgets, and to the customer’s specifications.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform service work accurately and efficiently to ensure customer satisfaction while also contributing to the profitability of the Service departmentInspect and diagnose equipment problems, propose the best possible solution, and perform the work needed to solve the issueContinuously research and train on all of Highway’s models of equipment to guarantee consistently excellent knowledge and servicePerform pre-delivery inspections to ensure that customers receive equipment that is free from operational errorsIdentify and replace defective parts and disassemble and reassemble machines as needed to restore operationUtilize the Company Intellitec system to accurately record all work performed so that the data can be used to continually improve service operationsComplete required Parts and Service forms that are necessary to complete each work assignmentLive by Highway’s values; advance and support a culture of leadership, responsibility, accountability, continual improvement, and fun among all employeesContribute to Highway’s overall success by performing additional duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:Post-secondary mechanic training is strongly preferred, but a combination of education and work experience will be consideredMust be able to safely and effectively use all tools and equipment necessary to perform work assignmentsMust own adequate heavy-duty hand tools up to and including ¾” drive and 1 ½” combination wrenches among other required toolsAbility to, or ability to learn to, operate all products and models of Highway equipment is requiredMust exercise a high degree of judgment and ability to solve problems effectivelyGood verbal and written communication skills with an ability to read and write the English languageBasic computer skills, or an ability to learn computer software, including Microsoft OfficeMust be able to work in unstable positions, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, sitting, standing on feet for long periods of time, and occasionally lifting 50lbs supported or unsupportedMust have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and pass a background checkABOUT HIGHWAY EQUIPMENT:A family-run business since 1933, Highway Equipment has one simple mission: making uptime easy for our partners, to build a better America.
