Job DescriptionJob Title: Hospital Facilities ManagerLocation: Rochester, NY & Hartford, CT Pay: $90,000 - $130,000 (depending on experience) Employment Type: Direct Hire Work Environment: 100% Onsite at hospital project site Travel: Approximately 10-25% travel to job sites or officesSchedule: Full-Time | Onsite at Central Energy Plant facilityTraining: Initial 3-4 day training at company headquarters in New OrleansBonus: Annual performance-based project bonusRelocation: Relocation assistance availablePosition OverviewWheeler Staffing Partners is seeking experienced Energy Managers / Asset Managers to support large-scale hospital infrastructure and central energy plant (CEP) operations across multiple U.S. locations.This role focuses on energy optimization, facility performance monitoring, and operational leadership within hospital campuses that utilize central energy plants consisting of chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and integrated control systems.The Energy Manager / Asset Manager will analyze energy consumption data, recommend operational improvements, and collaborate with facility operators and engineering teams to improve plant performance, efficiency, and long-term asset reliability.The ideal candidate brings a background in mechanical engineering, central plant operations, and mechanical construction, along with experience managing energy systems in large healthcare or institutional environments.Key ResponsibilitiesEnergy Management & OptimizationReview daily energy usage data and provide operational recommendations to improve efficiency and performanceDevelop and implement energy strategies and best practices for facility operationsAnalyze metering and plant performance data to identify opportunities for energy savingsProvide guidance on energy efficiency improvements across campus facilities Central Energy Plant OperationsOversee operation and maintenance of the Central Energy Plant (CEP) including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and associated systemsManage subcontractors, operators, and internal service providers supporting plant operationsEnsure plant systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with operational standardsMaintain and update the Plant Operating Manual and operational procedures Leadership & Asset ManagementManage one or more teams including Asset Managers or Assistant Asset ManagersMentor facility staff on plant operations, energy strategies, and best practicesOversee maintenance reserve accounts and ensure proper budgeting for plant maintenanceCoordinate ongoing training and development for plant operators Project Coordination & Technical SupportSupport engineering, procurement, and construction teams in coordination with plant operationsCoordinate troubleshooting and diagnostics with remote support teamsAssist with commissioning and startup activities for central energy plant systemsEnsure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements Required QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited programExperienceMinimum 4+ years of management experience in a central energy plant or large mechanical facilityExperience managing multiple project sites and assistant asset managersExperience in mechanical commercial construction, ideally with a mechanical subcontractor or MEP design consultantStrong knowledge of building codes, energy systems, and facility infrastructurePreferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) LicenseOR Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification with plans to obtain PE licensureExperience working in healthcare facilities, large campuses, or institutional energy systemsSkills & CompetenciesStrong understanding of central energy plant operations including chillers, boilers, and cooling towersAbility to analyze energy consumption data and recommend operational improvementsExcellent leadership and team management skillsStrong communication and organizational abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced project environmentsStrong problem-solving and diagnostic capabilities Work EnvironmentThis role is primarily based at hospital construction or operational project sites, supporting central energy plant infrastructure.Responsibilities may include:Climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, or rampsWorking in mechanical rooms and plant environmentsStanding or sitting for extended periodsWorking in confined spaces when necessaryMoving equipment or materials up to 50 pounds Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on location and experienceAnnual performance-based project bonusRelocation assistance availableVehicle allowance: $777 per monthPhone allowance: $80 per month120 hours of PTO annually9 paid holidays401(k) with employer match up to 5%Medical insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield Why Work with Wheeler Staffing PartnersWheeler Staffing Partners connects talented professionals with leading organizations across the United States.
