Salary Grade: 12SummaryThe Underwriting Assistant I performs a variety of loan processing duties to ensure loans are compliant and meet the standards and documentation required for delivery into the Bank’s portfolio or appropriate secondary market investors. The Underwriting Assistant I coordinates communication between the MLO, customer and Underwriter to ensure the mortgage application process meets all expectations while preparing the application to be underwritten.Essential Job Functions & ResponsibilitiesCoordinates the timely processing of residential mortgage loan applications and ensures critical deadlines are metOrders automated income/asset verification and automated underwriting servicesAnalyses necessary disclosures for compliance and reviews support documentation via appropriate checklistsOrders mortgage services through third party vendors Obtains missing documentation and completes the preliminary loan preparation for the Underwriter’s reviewResponds to internal and external customers or vendor inquiries, within scope of authority and expertise via telephone and electronic communicationStays current on new developments within the residential lending field and attends relevant courses and seminarsQualificationsEDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS: (Minimum education required to perform the duties of this position)Associates degree, or equivalent experience in an administrative or business related role.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong time management and organizational skillsAbility to work in a team environment under deadline pressureAbility to communicate in an effective and efficient manner both verbally and writtenProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) products is requiredTech savvy with ability to learn various web based systemsCompetenciesMust have cyber security awareness to protect the digital environment, the Bank, and customers.Functional/Technical SkillsLearning on the FlyOrganizingProblem SolvingSelf-DevelopmentTime ManagementApproachabilityCustomer FocusEthics and ValuesHumorIntegrity and TrustPeer RelationshipsWritten Communications
