Full-Stack Software Engineer

*Build the Technology That Powers CMS Next* Continental Message Solution (CMS) has decades of experience supporting critical customer communications and operational workflows. We are investing in the next generation of technology that will modernize how CMS operates, create new products, and support future growth. Our next major initiative is CMS Foundry, a Human + AI Workflow Execution Platform designed to move work from intake through routing, decision-making, escalation, tracking, and a verified outcome. We also rely on critical custom applications that must continue to operate reliably as we migrate and modernize them. We are looking for a hands-on engineer who can support the systems CMS depends on today while helping build the platform the company will depend on tomorrow. *What You Will Do* · Build workflow-driven web applications, internal tools, APIs, and customer-facing experiences for CMS Foundry and related initiatives. · Develop reusable capabilities for intake, routing, business rules, notifications, escalations, tracking, integrations, and reporting. · Support and modernize critical legacy .NET and SQL Server applications without disrupting the clients and operations that depend on them. · Help move appropriate workloads from on-premises infrastructure to Azure and other modern cloud patterns. · Integrate CMS systems with CRM, billing, telephony, messaging, customer databases, and third-party platforms. · Work directly with operations and leadership to turn incomplete or ambiguous business needs into practical software. · Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and take problems through resolution. _*USE AI AS A FORCE MULTIPLIER - NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR ENGINEERING*_ _CMS is committed to leveraging AI both within our products and in how we build them. With that, we expect our engineers to use modern AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, Codex, and similar technologies responsibly as a force multiplier across research, development, testing, debugging, implementation, and documentation. AI should accelerate strong engineering—not replace it. Engineers are expected to understand, evaluate, refine, test, and take ownership of the code and applications that they produce rather than blindly accepting AI-generated output. Our philosophy is high-quality, secure, maintainable software and sound engineering judgment remain the standard, regardless of how the code was created._ _You must understand, review, test, debug, and take responsibility for the software you produce. The systems built in this role will help form CMS's future technical foundation, so speed cannot come at the expense of architecture, security, reliability, maintainability, or engineering judgment that our customers deserve._ *What We Are Looking For* · Approximately 5+ years of full time dedicated professional software development experience, or equivalent production engineering maturity. · Strong experience building web applications, APIs, and database-backed services, with solid relational database and SQL skills. · Experience shipping and supporting production software, not only prototypes. · Comfort inheriting, troubleshooting, and improving code you did not originally write. · Experience with Git-based development, code review, testing, CI/CD, deployment, logging, and production support. · Strong ownership and follow-through: you can move work forward without constant direction and communicate risks or blockers early. · Ability to balance immediate business needs with maintainability and sound engineering practices. *Technology Environment* CMS's current environment includes on-premises C#/.NET applications, SQL Server, and an ever-growing Azure footprint. Experience with those technologies is critical because they remain business-critical. We are intentionally not prescribing a single future stack. Experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js, Python, .NET, Azure, or comparable modern technologies is useful. Strong engineering fundamentals, sound technical judgment, and the ability to build high-quality software matter more than experience with every specific technology. Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, SFTP, SaaS integrations, telephony/contact-center systems, cloud migration, observability, or applied AI is also helpful. *Why CMS* · Join an established Columbus company at an important point in its technology evolution. · Help shape a new platform before major product and architecture decisions are locked in. · Work directly with leadership and operational experts on real customer and business problems. · Make a visible impact on how CMS builds software and uses AI to create the next generation of its products and services.
