Director of Finance and Operations
JOB OVERVIEW:Location: Washington, DC or NYC (Hybrid / Remote) with up to 15% travel; preference for someone who can be hybrid from DC officeReports to: Senior Vice President of Strategy & OperationsPosition Type: Full-Time, ExemptSalary: Starting at $100,000 USD, commensurate with experienceBenefits: Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) match; and HSA contributions.SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Duties and ResponsibilitiesOther duties may be assigned by the Senior Vice President of Strategy & Operations.Financial Management & AccountingOversee accounts receivable/payable, invoicing, reconciliations, and vendor payments in QuickBooks Online.Monitor and collect outstanding accounts; prepare adjusting journal entries and annual 1099s.Partner with and manage an external consultant to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.Payroll & BenefitsManage bi-monthly payroll, PTO tracking, and multi-state compliance.Support finance-related HR processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee benefits administration.Coordinate annual benefits renewals and open enrollment in partnership with vendors.Serve as a resource for staff payroll, benefits, and related compliance inquiries.Data Analytics & ReportingTrack membership, partnership, and revenue data, producing reports and dashboards for leadership.Analyze financial and engagement trends to inform strategic decisions.Ensure data accuracy and integrity across Salesforce and other systems.Operations & Workflow OptimizationStreamline financial and operational workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.Leverage technology and AI tools to automate processes and enhance reporting.Collaborate across teams (partnerships, programs, events) to align finance and operations with organizational goals.QUALIFICATIONS:Technical & Professional SkillsSkilled in QuickBooks Online with experience managing AP/AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting.Direct experience handling multi-state payroll, benefits renewals, and finance-related onboarding and offboarding.Strong analytical abilities with proven capacity to develop reports and dashboards; proficiency in Excel and Salesforce.Demonstrated success in streamlining workflows and applying technology/AI tools to improve efficiency.Experience leading and completing independent audits for nonprofit organizations.Alignment with MCCA Core ValuesExcellence: You deliver timely, accurate, and dependable work.
