Clientmind Recruiting is searching for an Electrical Engineer (Sustainment) for a rapidly growing technology company. This role will be onsite in Frederick, MD.This engineer will maintain and improve products, systems, and processes after their initial release, ensuring continued functionality and performance throughout their lifecycle.This role serves as the bridge between Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure sustained performance of fielded products and support long-term reliability across the product lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesTroubleshooting & Problem Solving – Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues with products or systems during their operational phase; coordinate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to drive resolutionRoot Cause & Corrective Actions – Lead investigations into quality and performance issues, working with internal teams and suppliers to implement corrective and preventive measuresWarranty Support – Perform failure analysis of warranty returns and in-process test failures; document systemic root causes and drive long-term corrective actionsLifecycle Management – Plan and manage sustainment activities from initial release through end-of-life, including obsolescence tracking and redesign coordinationPerformance Optimization – Use data and test results to identify reliability trends and recommend product or process improvementsDocumentation & Change Control – Maintain production drawings and manage BOM and configuration changes through formal ECO/ECR processesContinuous Improvement – Identify and implement enhancements that improve reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectivenessCAPA & Supplier Collaboration – Lead ECP/ECO initiation, root cause analysis (8D, 5-Whys, Ishikawa), and supplier corrective action follow-up (SCARs)Quality & Test Support – Define and maintain Control Plans, FMEAs, and Inspection Plans; support test coverage alignment and measurement accuracy across inspection stationsQualificationsU.S. Citizenship required with an active Secret clearance or eligibility to obtainBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with equivalent experience5+ years of experience in sustainment, production, or reliability engineering—preferably within defense, aerospace, or other high-reliability electronics environmentsProven ability to analyze complex technical issues and coordinate cross-functional solutions without direct bench-level engineeringExcellent communication and documentation skills; able to interface effectively across technical and operational teamsDemonstrated intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
