SMT Operator - Electronics Manufacturing

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented SMT Operator to join our electronics manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling, inspecting, and ensuring the quality of surface mount technology (SMT) components on printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role requires a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, along with hands-on experience with various tools and equipment. The position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment focused on precision and quality in electronic manufacturing. Duties Operate surface mount technology (SMT) machinery for PCB assembly, including pick-and-place machines and soldering stations Read and interpret schematics, IPC 610 standards, and technical drawings to accurately assemble electronic components Perform soldering tasks using appropriate techniques to ensure reliable electrical connections Inspect assembled PCBs for defects using calipers, ohmmeters, and visual inspection tools Use hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment to assist in assembly and mechanical adjustments Verify component placement accuracy and adherence to specifications through measurement and testing Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols and quality standards Assist with troubleshooting electrical wiring issues and mechanical assembly problems as needed Skills Strong knowledge of PCB assembly processes and surface mount technology (SMT) techniques Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and their integration within manufacturing processes Experience working with IPC 610 standards for electronic assemblies Ability to read schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings Proficiency in soldering, using hand tools, power tools, calipers, ohmmeters, and other measurement devices Mechanical knowledge related to machining, assembly, and component placement Experience with electrical components such as resistors, capacitors, connectors, and integrated circuits Good understanding of manufacturing workflows within an electronics environment Strong attention to detail with excellent manual dexterity for precise work This position is integral to maintaining high-quality standards in our electronics manufacturing process.
