Substitute School Bus Driver

The School of Opportunity is looking for caring people to transport students with developmental disabilities. Bus aide assists on most routes. Substitute positions earn paid sick leave and get a retirement plan! Subs may work up to 30 hours per week! Monday-Friday, as needed, you set your schedule. Bus Drivers work 4 hours daily, 2 hours in the AM and 2 hours in the PM. Safely operate within the limits and requirements of the law, school buses and or other transportation vehicles, to transport and supervise authorized passengers to and from board approved bus stops, routes, and field trips. Responsibilities: Move individuals to improve their comfort, development, habilitation, and safety. Utilize appropriate behavior management practices. Advise transportation director of all problems with vehicle operation, unsafe drivers and individuals’ behavior and complete appropriate forms. Participate in all required training programs/ exercises required by the state and the board. Maintain a reasonably clean interior and exterior of assigned vehicle. Inspect vehicle before and after every scheduled and extra-curricular trip and complete appropriate forms. Qualifications: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Have a caring personality. Current State of Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with S & P and air brake Endorsements (School Bus) American Heart Association First Aid and CPR Certificate Clear a background check, drug screen, and physical ability exam. Ability to safely transport people with disabilities.
