Printed Circuit Board Designer

ZimZee Recruiting is looking for an PCB Designer and Layout Engineer. This role is responsible for providing engineering and technical support in the design and development of avionics and related electronic products. The engineer will play a key role in printed circuit board (PCB) layout and documentation, working closely with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality, manufacturable designs. This position requires strong technical expertise in PCB design, component library management, documentation control, and troubleshooting within a fast-paced engineering environment.Skills and RequirementsMinimum 5 years of PCB design and layout experience in an electrical or electronics environmentTechnical degree or equivalent background in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldStrong experience with PCB layout software, preferably PADSExperience designing PCB layouts from electrical schematicsKnowledge of high-speed and high-power PCB layout techniquesUnderstanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principlesExperience creating and maintaining component libraries and associated symbols/footprintsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to electronic hardware and board interfacesAbility to create and maintain engineering documentation, ECOs, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)Excellent organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skillsWorking knowledge of AutoCAD is preferredProficiency with Microsoft Office applicationsKey ResponsibilitiesDesign and layout printed circuit boards based on electrical schematics and product requirementsCoordinate electrical and mechanical design requirements to support overall product development goalsCreate, manage, and maintain PCB component libraries, symbols, and footprintsPrepare and maintain engineering documentation, ECOs, BOMs, and design release packagesSupport procurement, prototype builds, manufacturing, testing, and troubleshooting of PCB assembliesDevelop and maintain PCB layout standards, best practices, and manufacturability guidelinesEvaluate and qualify electronic components through research, testing, and documentationCollaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to support successful product development and productionProvide technical support to production facilities during manufacturing and testing activitiesWork directly with PCB fabrication, assembly vendors, and component suppliers to ensure quality and manufacturability
