The Bankruptcy and Probate Clerk responsibilities include reviewing and maintaining the bankruptcy and probate accounts for Professional Credit. It requires strong attention to detail, good time management, and ability to follow up with courts, trustees, and consumers. This position requires a strong understanding of our processes for handling both bankruptcy and probate accounts to ensure that all accounts are being serviced in a timely manner and within compliance standards.
Work Environment: This position is full-time, Monday Friday, 8 am 5 pmand is located onsite in a casual work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Create and file Proof of Claims for bankrupt consumers.
Communicate with the Executors of Estates via phone.
Review and respond to Preferential Payment requests from bankruptcy attorneys.
Review and respond to payoff requests from title companies related to bankruptcy and/or probate accounts.
Maintain the Probate and Bankruptcy worklists.
Help train the Legal Recovery Specialists in the proper handling of these accounts.
Basic administrative tasks such as sorting, distributing and scanning incoming mail.
Manage and update files throughout the various stages of bankruptcy and probate.
Review to determine if consumers are deceased and be able to file claims with Estates or through programs like ProbateFinder.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalence, AA or Bachelors preferred and/or previous legal experience
Great capacity for multi-tasking and attention to detail is key
Comfortable working with different software and able to learn new programs.
Self- motivated and dependable
Ability to work with and meet time-sensitive deadlines
Professional, friendly, motivated and focused.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Work responsibly both independently and with team members
