Hardware Technician 1 (On-Site)

Job Summary: This role is responsible for the mechanical assembly, delivery, and technical configuration of integrated hardware systems. You will build complex units, transport them using non-CDL large trucks, and perform both mechanical and IT-level troubleshooting—ensuring that hardware components are correctly recognized by Windows and communicating over the network.Duties and Responsibilities:Mechanical & Systems Integration: Assemble hardware from blueprints using precision tools. Install and configure internal components (power supplies, sensors, I/O boards). Windows & Hardware Troubleshooting: Configure Windows OS settings, install/update hardware drivers, and use Device Manager to resolve resource conflicts or unrecognized components. Basic Networking: Set up and test connectivity for integrated systems. Assign Static IP addresses, configure Subnet Masks, and perform basic connectivity tests using command-line tools (e.g., ping, ipconfig). Modular Component Repair: Diagnose and replace faulty sub-assemblies (sensors, motors, or PC components) on returned equipment to restore full functionality. Large Vehicle Operation: Safely drive and maneuver non-CDL large trucks (up to 26,000 lbs) for equipment delivery and recovery. Logistics & Heavy Loading: Secure and stage heavy hardware (50–75 lbs unassisted) using proper tie-down techniques and material handling equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience:Mechanical Background: 2+ years in mechanical assembly, automotive, or industrial maintenance. High school diplomaKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Technical Skills: Experience with Digital Multimeters for hardware testing and CMD/PowerShell for basic network diagnostics. Problem Solving: Ability to isolate whether a failure is mechanical (broken part), electrical (no power), or software (driver/IP conflict). IT Literacy: Proficiency in navigating Windows 10/11, managing BIOS/UEFI settings, and basic Ethernet cabling (RJ45). Driving: Valid driver’s license, clean MVR, and the ability to pass a DOT physical. Work Environment:You will work in a collaborative, hands-on shop setting. This is an on-site position where you’ll spend your day at a dedicated workbench, often teaming up with colleagues to solve problems and complete projects. We value flexibility and initiative over rigid routines—our day-to-day is unstructured, meaning you’ll have the autonomy to tackle shifting priorities and "wear many hats" as needs arise. Physical Demands:Heavy Lifting: Frequently lift 50–75 lbs and participate in team lifts for loads exceeding 100 lbs. Stamina & Agility: Comfortable moving between a mechanical workbench, a PC configuration station, and a loading dock.
