Backed by a prominent, publicly traded real estate investment trust, they specialize in complex financing solutions for sophisticated real estate developers nationwide.About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic, high-accountability Controller to lead their corporate accounting function. Reporting to the executive finance team, this individual will oversee a talented accounting group, enhance institutional controls, and act as a strategic partner to drive long-term corporate scaling. This is an elite position for a leader who thrives in a fast-paced, constantly evolving financial services environment.Responsibilities:Financial Reporting & SEC Compliance: Manage the end-to-end production of financial reporting materials for internal management presentations and enterprise-level reporting compliance.Technical GAAP Accounting: Provide definitive accounting guidance on complex U.S. GAAP treatment, specifically focused on fair value (FV) loan accounting and debt accounting structures.Internal Control Framework: Enhance and maintain a robust internal control environment, ensuring audit-ready accounting functions and SOX compliance.Team Supervision: Direct and mentor the corporate accounting department, maintaining full oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll verification workflows, and the month-end close process.Strategic Budgeting & FP&A Collaboration: Partner with the Strategy & Analytics divisions to coordinate the annual corporate budget, track performance metrics, and deliver actionable insights to maximize company performance.Operational Funding Oversight: Supervise the dedicated funding team responsible for final commercial loan approvals and the capital wire execution process.System Automation: Act as the ultimate business owner of the core financial systems, spearheading automation initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and scale capabilities. Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is required.Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is mandatory.Required Skills:10+ years of progressive experience executing and overseeing accounting functions, with a proven track record of managing and developing junior accounting teams.Comprehensive experience within the Real Estate sector is required.Deep familiarity with balance sheet businesses and loan operations is highly preferred.Advanced technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP (specifically loan and debt accounting regulations) and demonstrated experience running a SOX control framework.Elite proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems automation is expected.Superb written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to confidently present complex financial schedules and data models to C-suite and executive stakeholders.Pay range and compensation package: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000 per year, with a performance-based discretionary bonus program.
