Senior Quality Inspector (Aerospace) in Irvine

Position OverviewThe Senior Inspector is responsible for performing complex inspections on precision-machined parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. This role requires advanced knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), blueprint interpretation, and quality inspection processes in a manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesInspection & Quality AssurancePerform complex inspections on machined parts, castings, and forgings using precision measuring instruments.Determine acceptance or rejection of parts based on specifications and standards.Conduct first article, source, and surface plate inspections.Inspect for dimensional accuracy, cosmetic quality, and proper identification.Technical AnalysisRead and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications.Apply advanced GD&T principles and shop mathematics (including trigonometry).Identify root causes of defects and test failures; document findings.Support investigations related to customer returns and quality issues.Documentation & ComplianceMaintain accurate inspection records, certifications, and calibration documentation.Properly identify and segregate non-conforming materials.Ensure compliance with customer, military, and internal quality standards.Manage final inspection record control and reporting.Collaboration & SupportAssist customer and government source inspectors during audits.Provide technical guidance and training to team members.Support cross-functional teams in quality improvement initiatives.Continuous ImprovementParticipate in lean initiatives, 5S activities, and problem-solving efforts.Contribute to team performance, productivity, and process improvements.Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent.6+ years of experience performing advanced inspections in a manufacturing environment.Strong expertise in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).Proficiency in reading complex blueprints and technical documents.Strong knowledge of shop mathematics, including trigonometry.Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to pass visual acuity and perception tests.QualificationsExperience in aerospace manufacturing and quality standards.CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation experience.Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 standards.NDT Level II certification (per MIL-STD-410 or equivalent) in multiple disciplines.Solder inspection certification (or ability to obtain).Familiarity with military specifications and regulatory requirements.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Strong visual inspection capability (near, far, and vision).Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and follow safety protocols.Work EnvironmentPrecision manufacturing environmentInteraction with auditors, inspectors, and cross-functional teamsFocus on quality, compliance, and continuous improvementKey SkillsAdvanced Inspection TechniquesGD&T & Blueprint InterpretationPrecision Measurement ToolsRoot Cause AnalysisQuality Compliance & DocumentationJ-18808-Ljbffr
