JOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 01/22/2026 CLOSING DATE: 02/05/2026 11:59 PM POSTING NUMBER: 00007458 POSITION TITLE: Summer School Principal, Junior High JOB DESCRIPTION: Lamar C.I.S.D. is accepting applications for principal positions for the summer school program. Person(s) selected will be responsible for planning and implementing the summer school/extended year program. RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Responsibilities and Duties: Direct, supervise and manage the summer school program. Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service. Monitor instructional and managerial processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes. Communicate and promote expectation for high level performance from staff and students; recognize excellence and achievement. Define expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies, classroom management and communication with the public. Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations affecting the schools. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the Student Handbook. Confer with parents, students and teachers concerning school and student issues. Attendance at work is an essential function. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise the performance of summer school staff EXPERIENCE: Minimum Experience: Administrative experience required QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education/Certification/Experience: Texas Principal/Mid-Management certification Certified appraiser Special Knowledge/Skills: Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction Strong organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills Ability to manage budget and personnel OTHER INFORMATION: Working Conditions: Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Ability to concentrate (detailed work), communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate district functions, compile, compute, instruct, maintain emotional control under stress, prolonged and irregular hours.
