CNC Programmer
JOB TITLE: CNC Programmer
LOCATION: Capewell Aerial Systems - South Windsor, CT
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
POSITION SUMMARY: This position encompasses all aspects of CNC Programming for all company CNC Lathe and Milling machines, including but not limited to programming of machines, creating 3-D models in MasterCam, developing sequence of operation and method of fixturing parts. Efficiency and accuracy are vital in this position, along with adherence to safety rules & regulations and cooperating with & assisting other Departments / Employees on a regular basis.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program CNC Turning and Milling Centers to specifications as described on drawings or engineering specifications.
Create 3-D models from drawings using MasterCam programming software.
Develop the sequence of operations in the program.
Develop the most efficient method of fixturing the part.
Ensure the most effective tooling is utilized, to include cutters and holders, to obtain the best efficiency and quality of the part.
Responsible for the configuration management of CNC programs to correct revision levels.
Make improvements to new or existing programs for improved efficiency.
Communicate with machinists and machine operators regarding set-up and effectiveness of CNC program.
Deploy CNC programs to support production schedule using work order system in Visual ERP system.
May work with Cost Estimator to develop estimated machining and set-up times on potential new work.
Generate work instructions or process sheets to aid the operators.
Assist machine operators when required.
Keep accurate records on jobs.
Practice and follow all safety rules.
Maintain a safe and clean work area.
Work cooperatively with other employees to meet department and company goals.
This position requires personal protective equipment on the shop floor where safety glasses and composite toe safety shoes are required by all.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors or management to support departmental and organizational objectives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engage with team members regularly to ensure proactive conflict resolution, development, and alignment on tasks and priorities.
Assist in the company's goal-setting process by recommending department goals and working with team members to assign individual goals
Requirements:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is highly preferred
At least 5 years of CNC programming experience required
Manufacturing engineering experience is highly preferred
Experience with 4th Axis Programming required
Experience with 5th Axis Programming preferred
Experience with machine automation required
Experience with Horizontal and Pallet Changing/Automation required
Experience with fixture design and implementation required
Experience with tooling required
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Ability to program and run multiple machines when necessary
Desire to learn and teach new skills
Teamwork, problem solving, motivation, adaptability, attendance/punctuality and good interpersonal skills a must

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and sometimes excessive.
This is a full-time, onsite position.
The work schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday 7:00AM – 4:30PM and every other Friday 7:00AM – 3:30PM with a 30-minute lunch break
