Data Acquisition Engineer

Job Title: Data Acquisition Hardware EngineerLocation: Lafayette , IN Full time (Test Lab Environment)Key ResponsibilitiesSupport and maintain data acquisition hardware systems used in product testing and validation activities.Build, modify, and troubleshoot electrical wiring harnesses and test equipment kits.Interpret electrical schematics and translate them into functional wiring and hardware assemblies.Perform hands-on electrical work including wiring, soldering, connector installation, and electrical troubleshooting.Utilize electrical tools and instruments such as multimeters, drills, and related lab equipment.Support CAN-based communication systems including CAN J1939, CAN CCP, and serial communication protocols.Assist with hardware setup, integration, and debugging activities in a testing laboratory environment.Collaborate daily with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional team members to support ongoing testing activities.Maintain organized documentation related to hardware builds, configurations, and troubleshooting activities.Support continuous improvement efforts for data acquisition and testing systems.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline.Minimum 5 years of relevant hands-on engineering or hardware support experience.Internship experience may be considered if combined with:Minimum 2 years in an electrical-focused internship rolePlus 3 years of professional industry experienceStrong hands-on electrical and hardware troubleshooting experience.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and create wiring harness assemblies.Experience with:Wiring and solderingMultimeters and electrical toolsHardware assembly and kit buildsCAN J1939CAN CCPSerial bus communication systemsStrong organizational and task prioritization skills.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in testing laboratories or validation environments.Experience supporting data acquisition systems for heavy equipment, automotive, mining, transportation, or industrial applications.Familiarity with electrical test equipment and instrumentation.Exposure to embedded systems or electronic control modules (ECMs).Technical SkillsRequiredElectrical Wiring & Harness BuildingSoldering & Electrical AssemblyElectrical Schematic InterpretationMultimeter UsageCAN J1939CAN CCPSerial Communication ProtocolsHardware TroubleshootingData Acquisition Hardware SupportDesiredTest Lab ExperienceEmbedded Systems ExposureValidation & Test SupportSoft SkillsRequiredStrong communication skillsExcellent teamwork and collaborationStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to prioritize tasks effectivelySelf-motivated with strong initiativeAbility to work independently and in team environmentsWork EnvironmentPrimarily lab-based environmentDaily interaction with engineering and technical teamsHands-on electrical and hardware-focused roleTeam-lead driven collaborative environment
