Manufacturing Engineer

Tasks Evaluates composite materials manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from technicians Develops and improves manufacturing processes for composite materials by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment. Creates and maintains all required documentation including work instructions & BOMs Operate complex machinery including automated cutting tables, heated platen presses, autoclaves, ovens, and test equipment. Supports production floor through troubleshooting, operator training and other means. Responsible for applying and establishing statistical methods, which control the process and maximize productivity. Required Qualifications Detailed understanding of GD&T. Experience in Work Instruction creation. Proficient in verbal and written communication skills; able to prepare technical documents to be sent to customers. Implementation of continuous improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen methods. Ability to review drawings, models, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities. Establishment of sequences of operations to fabricate and assemble composite products that promote efficient utilization of equipment and labor. Ability to implement and improve new manufacturing processes. Experience in establishing qualification plans, to qualify processes and equipment to the customer specifications. Capable of designing or defining the requirements for the development of equipment, robotics, Lay-up molds, Vacuum Holding Fixtures, Shop Aids, Positioning fixtures, Go-No-Go inspection tools required for the manufacturing of new products. Capable of performing safety, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), Process Capability and Total Product Maintenance (TPM) for new and existing equipment. Understanding basic industrial engineering practices, such as, time studies, statistical analysis, ergonomic impacts, and value engineering principles. Ability to multi-task in demanding environment Preferred Qualifications Composite part fabrication experience preferred. Experience with composite process and specifications of thermoset and/or thermoplastic parts and structures preferred. Familiar with composite autoclave or oven curing cycles, thermal profiles, recipes, thermal effects, thermal expansion, wrinkles and tooling spring back effects. Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year Benefits: Health insurance Work Location: In person
