This role plays a critical part in ensuring the adequacy of loss and LAE reserves, supporting financial reporting, and partnering with Finance, Claims, Underwriting, and ERM. The position requires strong technical reserving expertise, sound actuarial judgment, and the ability to communicate results to senior leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesReserving & AnalysisPerform quarterly and annual loss and LAE reserve analyses for assigned P&C lines of business using actuarial best practicesSelect and recommend carried reserves, including rationale for management and audit reviewAnalyze loss development patterns, trend, tail factors, and large loss activityIdentify emerging issues and explain reserve movements, variability, and key driversConduct deep-dive analyses on segments, coverages, and accident years as neededFinancial Reporting & GovernanceSupport statutory, GAAP, and management reporting processesPrepare and review actuarial exhibits, documentation, and reserve memosPartner with Finance on close processes, variance analysis, and earnings commentarySupport internal controls, SOX documentation, and governance standardsCollaboration & Business SupportWork closely with Claims to understand operational drivers of loss emergencePartner with Underwriting and Pricing to provide feedback on loss experience and profitabilitySupport reinsurance reserving, commutations, and ceded analyses as neededSupport transformation efforts to automate quarterly roll forwardsLeadership & DevelopmentMentor junior actuarial staff and review actuarial work productsContribute to the enhancement of reserving methodologies, tools, and automationServe as a subject matter expert on assigned lines or reserving topicsQualificationsRequiredAssociate (ACAS) or equivalent level of experience10-15+ years of actuarial experience, with substantial P&C reserving experienceStrong knowledge of U.S. P&C reserving techniques and regulatory environmentExperience with primary insurance (personal and/or commercial lines)Advanced proficiency in Excel; working knowledge of actuarial software (e.g., ResQ, Arius, SAS, R, or similar)Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to managementPreferredExperience supporting statutory and GAAP reportingExposure to reinsurance structures and ceded reservingPrior experience interacting with auditors and regulatorsProgramming or automation experience (R, Python, SQL, VBA)Leadership or informal people-management experienceThe base salary range for this position is $152,000 - $230,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
