Job Description Veterinary Technician/AssistantBabby Farms is looking for a Veterinary Assistant. This role will require the candidate to work hand-in-hand with our Zookeepers and Animal Care Staff to ensure holistic animal health, wellness, enrichment, and experience with a variety of large Livestock animals and exotic animals. This is an ever-evolving role within a company consistently seeking to enhance animal husbandry practices and customer experiences. We are seeking an organized and self-motivated individual who can coordinate a multitude of tasks and projects with effective communication skills.Responsibilities and DutiesComplete comprehensive health checks on every animal using standardized criteria and documentation.Keep up-to-date animal health recordsManaging, directing, and communicating with a teamPerform basic animal maintenance tasks such as grooming, feeding, training, and first aidDietary planning, hoof maintenance, etc.Perform various manual labor tasks on the farm, including but not limited to feeding animals, cleaning barns and stables, mending fences, filling and cleaning water troughs.Effectively answer customer questions related to animals on exhibit.Provide regular, varying enrichment activities for resident animals.Demonstrate safe handling practices in day-to-day activities.Coordinate health-care efforts for animals under veterinary careResearch and learn about species under your careCollaborate with co-workers to create and implement care plans for all animals.Must have good time management.Cleaning enclosuresTransport animals safelyCommunicate with the public, coworkers, and management efficiently and effectively.QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field (preferred but not required)Veterinary Tech CertificationMust have a valid driver's licenseDiverse animal handling experienceAbility to work with a team as well as individuallyAbility to give and take directionMust communicate effectively with team membersWeekend and holiday availabilityAbility to lift 80 lb feed bags and hay balesMust be able to work with children and people with disabilitiesMust be able to follow OSHA regulations and safety protocols.Key SkillsAnimal HandlingObservation skillsUnderstanding of basic animal behaviorsEffective organization skillsBasic veterinary skillsBasic computer skillsCreative thinkingProblem-solvingAbility to coordinate multiple tasks, have versatilityGeneral knowledge of animal trainingCustomer serviceSelf-motivated work ethicBasic understanding of animal nutritionMust Have Reliable Transportation.Shift: 5 days on 2 days off, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PMCompensation: $17.50/Hour 40 hours/week.#hc115260
