QC Technician

Job Description GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIESResponsible for the food quality, food safety and esthetics of the product.Follows through on set processes and ensures adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP’s), food safety, Safety Quality Food (SQF) guidelines and product quality standards.Responsible for sampling, testing and documentation of the Quality Management Systems including procedures, records, GMP’s and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).Responsible for monitoring the product food safety and quality throughout the facility and manufacturing processes.Responsible for meeting all applicable food regulations (international, federal, state and local laws). This includes FSMA, FDA, USDA and any other relevant agencies.Conducts and completes pre-operational checks prior to production start-ups.Responsible for performing sanitation verification and allergen testing on equipment and other areas of the plant required to determine cleaning effectiveness after changeovers.Ensures the correct specifications for products are met during processing and production.Investigates root causes to customer complaints and strives to reduce or resolve issues.Trains employees on food safety and SQF standards.Collects product samples for Product Development, QA retains and laboratory testing.Calibrates and verifies measurement instruments to confirm they function properly.Performs inspections on equipment and machinery to check for any possible risks to product safety and reports any findings to management for prompt resolution.Responsible for overseeing the hold, reject and release criteria for both raw materials and finished product.REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTAbility to read/write/comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence or memos.Proficient using Microsoft Office software to create or edit documents on the computer.Follows guidelines of HACCP Plan, GMP’s and safety rules of the facility.The employee is required to stand up to 10 hours or more daily. Minimal to light physical activity such as standing, walking and lifting (up to 25 lbs.) is required daily.Able to work on feet for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.Effectively works under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment.Exposed to warm and humid temperatures as well as cold environments.Flexible schedule and willingness to work overtime and weekends when needed.Able to multi-task in a fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment.Work authorization: United States (Required).
