Electrical Engineer, Level 5
Overview
In this role you will own the electrical design lifecycle for next-gen Spectacles, from concept to production. You will work within the Spectacles team to develop power, signal integrity, and EMI-aware hardware for battery-powered AR glasses. You’ll collaborate with mechanical, software, RF, thermal and industrial design teams to validate boards and prototypes. Your work will directly support Snap’s mission to push the boundaries of camera-based experiences. ResponsibilitiesOwn schematic design, component selection and stackup definition for boards from concept to final deliverableDesign with complex SOCs, PMICs, Wireless ICs and sensors for low-power consumer electronicsSimulate AC/DC power distribution networks and define impedance masksLead and contribute to technical design reviewsSupervise and review PCB, Flex, and Rigid-Flex layoutsDebug hardware issues with cross-functional teams (desense, power states, SI, ESD, EMI)Analyze circuit parasitics and tolerances across voltage/temperature rangesTest and validate board-level and system-level electrical designsCollaborate closely with mechanical, software, RF, thermal and industrial design teamsAuthor clear electrical test documentationDevelop electronic prototypes for new product conceptsSupport development builds onsite at external contract manufacturersTravel internationally up to 20%
Key requirementsStrong electrical engineering fundamentalsExperience in electronic design including component selection, schematic design, schematic capture and layout toolsProficiency with battery-operated system design including chargers, fuel gauges and protection circuitsExperience with interfaces such as USB, I2C/I3C, SPI, UART, MIPI, SWD and PCIeKnowledge of layout strategies for power supplies, EMI mitigation, high-speed SI and PDNExperience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, battery simulators, logic analyzers, thermal chambers)Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-group collaborationFamiliarity with lab instrumentation and PDN/SI simulation toolsMinimum qualifications: BS/BA in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field; 7+ years in electrical or hardware engineeringstrong interpersonal and collaboration skillsclear communication across cross-functional teamsproblem-solving mindsetCadence AllegroOrCAD Capturebattery-operated system design
