Entity: Owensboro Health Regional Hospital | Department: Emergency | Work Hours: PRN for events | Minimum one event per month | Weekend Requirements: As Needed | 0.0 FTEJob Summary:The Owensboro Health Event Medicine Nurses work off assessment skills to activate patient care protocols to deliver patient care within their full scope of practice as defined by the state of Kentucky and Owensboro Health's scope of practice, in conjunction with EMS personnel.Position Shift:Our events are typically on nights and weekends, but can vary.Events can last from three to 12 hours but the average event is five hours.Event Medicine employees are required to be available for a minimum of three events per quarter.Job Responsibilities:Actively participates with other members of the healthcare team to provide direct patient care.Responsible for triage care in the pre-hospital environment.Responsible for effective communication to ensure safe and quality patient care within the on-site care team and during handover.Works collaboratively with EMS personnel.Utilizes the problem solving model to independently resolve patient problems and follow through with the healthcare team to implement solutions.Responds to emergency requests within the assigned small and large events.Maintains clinical competency per regulatory and accreditation compliance.The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.Skills and Attributes:Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.Works under general supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization.Position Requirements:Work ExperienceA minimum of 2 years' Nursing experience requiredEducationAssociate's degree or higher or Diploma in Nursing required upon hireAdditional Education InformationNoneLicensure/Certification/RegistrationRN - Licensed as a Registered Nurse.
