The primary purpose of this position is to prepare quality, appetizing food for residents, their families and visitors, staff and other community members. Works as a member or our Givens Gerber Park Cafe Services team and is expected to participate in all aspects of café operations. This position works in an open kitchen and has frequent and close contact with residents and other customers. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 7AM to 3:30PM.What you'll do:Reviews menus and prep lists and determines the type, quantity and order of items to be preppedMay provide input on development of new menu items and other quality improvement activities undertaken in the caféAssemble all ingredients, completes all pre-preparation (trimming, icing, washing, portioning, adjusting temperature controls) before advancing to final preparation (mixing, blending, cooking, etc.)Inspect foods and meats in storage, checks equipment in cooking area often to assure safety and sanitation standardsEnsure completion of all assigned weekly cleaning tasks and any other cleaning duties assigned by the Chef ManagerMay check stock/food product/supplies as they come in from vendors. Checks orders against invoices and ensures that all food product/supplies are properly stocked and rotated. Checks for appropriate temperatures, correct products, mis-picks, and damage to shipmentsPerform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as-needed basis by an authorized supervisorWhat you'll need:* 2 year's experience in food service operations* Working knowledge of sanitary standards related to food handling and preparation* Knowledge to prepare, cook & serve meals in an appealing and appetizing manner* Must know or have the ability to handle and operate equipment in assigned areas* Must know proper methods and cooking temperatures for best utilization in yield of meats and other foodsCompensation for this role ranges from $20.50 - $21.50 per hour, plus includes our comprehensive benefits package!Still curious about what Givens is all about?
