Child Care Co-Director

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The purpose of a Co-Director at Summit School is to implement the mission of the school, facilitate the day-to-day operations of the child care center to ensure that it is a safe and fun place for children to learn, and to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines while supporting learning and development for enrolled children. Successful applicants will have demonstrable experience in managing all aspects of a child care center, and strong leadership skills. They must also have a friendly demeanor, a love for children, and strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment for both the children and educators. Job Duties to Include Supervise staff (daily operations, including teachers, classrooms, scheduling and breaks.) Hire and train new staff members Provide job coaching, mediation as needed Prepare and facilitate staff meetings Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff while ensuring staff remain current with licensing rules Establish policies and communicate to staff and parents Develop educational programs and standards Ensure proper development and implementation of curriculum in each classroom Assist staff resolve conflicts between children and communications with parents Provide classroom support to students and staff Facilitate family engagement and communications Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities and community contacts Establish and manage budgets and set fees for programs including preparing invoices and collection of payments Plan and implement fundraising opportunities for the school Submit paperwork needed for assistance programs Ensure facilities are maintained and cleaned according to state regulations to include adequate supplies for staff and children Recruit and schedule children in appropriate classrooms; maintain accurate records on all children enrolled in the program per licensing rules and maintain waitlisted families as necessary Marketing and public relations of Summit School Prepare for and attend meetings with Board of Directors Set long term strategic initiatives for programming Serve in various roles throughout the center as needing including as classroom teacher Other various tasks Education & Experience Requirements: Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in any field, (Early Childhood preferred) 1040 hours as assistant teacher, aide or student intern, with 18 quarter credits Understanding of MN Rule 3 Current Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification Proven Supervisory experience Teaching experience in a childcare facility Experience in implementing curriculum Hours: 40 hours per week Monthly: 12 month position Pay: starting at $45,000 (dependent on education and experience) Benefits: Creative Work Environment Competitive pay Group Medical 50% Child Tuition Discount Paid vacation and sick time Paid Training Summit School is fully committed to Equal Employment Opportunity and to attracting, retaining, developing and promoting the most qualified employees without regard to their race, gender, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, citizenship status, veteran status, or any other characteristic prohibited by state or local law.
