DescriptionJob SummaryOne of our clients, located in Oakland County, Michigan, is seeking to hire a Controller to manage and oversee all financial activities for two golf course operations. This role will be responsible for preparing timely financial reports, as well as summaries and forecasts to support future business growth.Job ResponsibilitiesMaintain QuickBooks accounting for each entityDevelop and maintain internal accounting policies and procedures for the new banquet operationMaintain payroll and payroll recordsPrepare and analyze monthly financial reports in a timely and accurate mannerMonitor and analyze actual results with the budget on a monthly basisOversee and lead the annual budget process working with the other department headsWork with the other department heads to develop and monitor financial and operational metrics to better manage their departmentsDevelop a strategic planning team and lead the strategic planning processWork with the other department heads to develop and maintain a policy and procedure manual for each departmentForecast and monitor the company’s cash flowContinually look for cost containment opportunitiesPrepare government reports as requiredCoordinate with external CPA firm and prepare the necessary work papersQualificationsBachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or financeSkillsStrong analytical skillsStrong computer skillsCritical thinking and good judgmentEvaluate problems and implement solutionsStrategic planning and leadershipGood time managementGood communication skillsPersonal AttributesHonest and trustworthyRespectfulSound work ethicsPassion for your workExperience5+ years of experience in public or private accounting2+ years of experience as a Controller or similar type of roleCompensationCommensurate with experienceBonus potentialHealth insurance
