Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Pay Rate: $109.05/hr (W2)
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior AWS Cloud Platform Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise cloud environment. This is a hands-on technical role focused on AWS infrastructure engineering, cloud migration, automation, platform support, troubleshooting, and production operations.
This is not a people-management position. The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor with deep AWS expertise who enjoys solving complex technical issues, supporting mission-critical production environments, and implementing cloud-native solutions at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and support AWS cloud infrastructure in production environments.
Perform cloud migrations, modernization efforts, and application onboarding to AWS.
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, performance, and application issues.
Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, and AWS CDK.
Develop automation solutions using Python, Ansible, and AWS-native services.
Support Kubernetes and containerized workloads running in AWS.
Monitor system health, performance, reliability, and security across cloud platforms.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions for recurring issues.
Collaborate with development, security, and infrastructure teams to improve platform stability and operational efficiency.
Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to streamline deployments and operations.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of IT infrastructure, systems engineering, cloud engineering, or DevOps experience.
5+ years of hands-on AWS experience supporting production environments.
Strong experience with AWS services including:
EC2
VPC
IAM
S3
RDS
Lambda
CloudWatch
CloudTrail
EKS
Direct Connect
Expertise with Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, and Ansible.
Strong Python and Linux/Bash scripting experience.
Experience supporting and troubleshooting Kubernetes environments.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and Artifactory.
AWS Certification preferred (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or similar).
Preferred Skills
Experience with Amazon EKS, ECS, and Docker.
Background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or production operations.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, New Relic, AppDynamics, or Jaeger.
Understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and container platforms.
Exposure to AWS AI/ML services such as SageMaker or Bedrock.
