Material Handler

JOB TITLE: Material Handler REPORTS TO: Machine Operator Lead DEPARTMENT: Extrusion SECTION I JOB SUMMARY: Performs material handling duties, packing, weighing, miscellaneous warehouse duties, gives full support to production when needed, loading and unloading trucks. SECTION II – SPECIFIC DUTIES: 1. Supports all safety objectives of the facility working in conjunction with management. 2. Assist training new personnel. 3. Ensures that appropriate shift communication logs are completed. 4. Reports to Lead and document all equipment issues. 5. Maintain accurate production counts on reports. 6. Maintain good housekeeping practices at all times. 7. Maintain scrap levels to a minimum. 8. Assists with start-ups and shutdowns. 9. Must be able to safely use the forklift. 10. Must perform daily checks on forklifts. 11. Maintain material flow to the machines as required. 12. Transport material from the material staging area to dumpers. 13. Move finished goods from production floor to warehouse. 14. Proper labeling on finished product. 15. Cleans and maintains loading equipment and scales. 16. Must assist in inventory counts. 17. Maintain a clean and neat work area with safety in mind. 18. Perform other duties as requested by Lead or Management. 19. Wear and utilize proper PPE. SECTION III – PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: A. LEVEL OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking and hearing. B. LEVEL OF PHYSICAL EXERTION: Must be able to lift at least 55 pounds. C. LEVEL OF VISUAL ACUITY: Depth perception, field of vision, and visual inspection. D. LEVEL OF PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to manufacturing, warehouse, and office environments with temperature swings, noise hazards, moving mechanical parts, and fork lift traffic. SECTION IV – QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must speak, read and write English. 2. Basic math skills, able to use calculator. 3. Operate scales. 4. Able to work with minimum supervision. 5. Prepare written reports/production reports. 6. Good interpersonal skills within a team environment. 7. Capable of safely operating powered industrial forklifts. SECTION V – SCOPE : BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION: Performs all material handling, packing, weighing materials, maintain material flow to all machines as required, any miscellaneous warehouse duties and other assigned tasks.
