Currently, we are seeking a Software Deputy to contribute to our mission in a dynamic startup environment, contributing to the design and execution of the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV).A Software Deputy serves as a software focused, project management, and technical coordination role for the HALTV program. This role is responsible for maintaining software execution schedules, guiding technical direction, tracking development metrics, and serving as the primary interface between software engineering teams and program management. The Software Deputy works closely with Software Lead to ensure development standards are followed, risk and dependencies are managed, and resources are appropriately balanced across software teams. The role requires strong technical judgement, communication skills, and the ability to drive execution across a multi-team software development environment. Take the #NextLeap with Lunar Outpost and work on the LTV, which will carry NASA astronauts farther than they've ever been before on the lunar surface! Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and manage software development schedules, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables for the HALTV programServe as the primary point of contact between software engineering teams and program managementServe as the primary point of contact between software engineering teams and program managementTrack, collect, and report software metrics related to progress, quality, resourcing, risks, defects, and schedule performanceSupport technical direction and decision making in coordination with the Software Lead and Software team leadsEnsure software development standards, processes, and best practices are understood and consistently followedCoordinate resource planning and workload balancing across multiple software teamsFacilitate cross-team communication, alignment, and issue resolutionSupport planning activities including sprint planning, release planning, integration events, and program reviews Coordinate with system & test teams to ensure seamless software integration and deliveryCoordinate with hardware to ensure dependencies are tracked and resolved for schedule adherenceRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline5+ years of applicable industry experience working with teams to develop, maintain, and lead software architecture, with at least 3 years of experience in software management.Experience leading, coordinating, or managing software development efforts in a technical environmentStrong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing, and releaseAbility to manage schedules, track progress, identify risks, and communicate status clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to work across multiple engineering teams and coordinate priorities in a dynamic program environmentSelf-motivated, focused, and driven to meet critical deadlinesExcellent organization and time management skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsU.S. Person  Preferred QualificationsPrior experience in software project management, software team lead, scrum master, technical lead, or deputy lead roleExperience supporting defense, aerospace, embedded systems, autonomous systems, vehicle systems, or mission-critical software programsFamiliarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid software development methodologiesExperience with tools such as Jira, GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, or similar engineering management platformsExperience developing or tracking software metrics, including velocity, defect trends, earned value inputs, schedule performance, and integration readinessFamiliarity with software quality standards, code review practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release managementCompensation & Benefits: Compensation level and base salary are competitively structured and thoughtfully determined based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, and the scope of the role.Comprehensive health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision benefits, with 70% of premiums covered by the employerPaid time off: Three (3) weeks per year of vacationRetirement plan: Up to 4% employer match on 401(k) contributionsPaid holidays: 11 company-recognized holidaysParental leaveEducational reimbursement opportunities to support company objectives, continued learning, and career developmentLunar Outpost Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
