Controller

*Job Overview* The Controller will lead the company’s accounting team and ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reporting, implement accounting policies and maintain strong internal controls. The position requires strong accounting expertise and the ability to establish a high-performance culture focused on accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement. *Responsibilities:* *Financial Reporting & Accounting* * Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process. * Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. * Preparation and review of account reconciliations is required * Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, and related accounting functions. * Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and controls. * Research and implement new accounting standards. * Prepare financial information and analysis for leadership. * Partner with external auditors on the annual audit and quarterly reviews. * Maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and strengthen the company’s internal control environment. * Partner with corporate accounting team on month end close and other various projects. *Manufacturing & Operational Accounting* * Ensure appropriate accounting and controls over inventory, raw materials, finished goods, fixed assets, capital projects, and maintenance expenditures. * Partner with plant and operations leadership to improve cost accounting, inventory accuracy, and financial reporting. * Monitor variances and investigate significant fluctuations. * Support capital expenditure analysis and accounting for major plant projects. *Leadership & Process Improvement* * Lead, develop, and mentor the accounting team. * Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes. * Improve close timelines, reporting processes, and financial controls. *Qualifications:* *Education/Experience* * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. * CPA is a plus. * 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with experience in a Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership role highly preferred. * Public company experience is a plus. * Experience with SOX/internal controls is highly preferred. * Manufacturing, cement, building materials, mining, metals, aggregates, or other heavy industrial experience is a plus. * Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP. * Demonstrated ability to lead and develop an accounting organization preferred. * Experience with corporate ERP systems. *Workplace Skills* * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * High ethical standards and professional integrity. * Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities. * Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of accounting principles. * Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. * Demonstrated initiative and commitment to continuous improvement. * Ability to train staff effectively and document processes when required. * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. *Working Requirements*: * Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, push and pull objects up to 25 lbs. * Must be able to work in varied and dynamic schedules to meet operational demand and can meet flexible schedules from time to time. * May require occasional travel to other operations within the company. * May require after-hours or weekend work.
