Cooperatively perform tasks under the supervision of the CECSE teacher.2. Provide assistance to the CECSE teacher in preparing and implementing Positive Behavior Supports and the Texas Behavior Support Initiative.3. Assist in teaching and implementing school rules and routines at the campus.4. Provide academic and functional skill instruction to individual students and with groups as directed by the CECSE teacher on student Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals/objectives.5. Collect data on student IEP goals/objectives as directed by the CECSE teacher.6. Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, recess, general education time, and on field trips as assigned by the CECSE teacher.7. Perform assigned non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack time, toileting, clothing routines and self-help skills as applicable.8. Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students for the purpose of maintaining students' personal hygiene.9. Participate in the transfer of non and semi-ambulatory students.10. Appropriately manage students physically, verbally, and non-verbally who may be out of emotional/behavioral control.11. Teach and practice social skills in alignment with age/grade/program expectations.12. Assist with tube feeding, escorting students and monitoring for all meals as assigned.13. Demonstrate ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community.14. Attend meetings and in-service presentations (e.g. trainings, IEP meetings, emergency procedures, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.15. Confer with teachers on a regular basis for the purpose of accountability and assisting in evaluating special education student progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.16. Attendance at work is an essential function.17. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.Supervisory Responsibilities:* Monitor and supervise studentsEXPERIENCE: QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Education/Certification:High school diploma or G.E.D.Title 1 Funded Campus: 48 semester hours of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university OR meets NCLB requirements for Highly Qualified ParaprofessionalsNon-Title 1 Funded Campus: 30 semester hours of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university OR three years of full-time work-related experience with special needs students in an instructional or child care facilitySpecial Knowledge/Skills:Constructive and cooperative attitude toward the duties of the aide, the school, the staff and all students, including those who have severe or multiple handicapsAbility to read, write and implement instructions designated by teachers/supervisors in order to meet IEP objectivesAbility to follow directives and to perform tasks necessary to ensure the safety of students at all timesAbility to communicate positively with students, both verbally and non-verballyAbility to change diapers, feed and care for children (ages 3-21) who may have disabilitiesCPI certified or ability to obtain/maintain CPI certificationOTHER INFORMATION:Equipment Used: Computer, copy machine and other standard office equipment, audiovisual equipment, lifting equipment, special learning devices and other specialized/adaptive equipment used by students. Working Conditions: Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Communicating (verbal and written), understanding verbal instructions, reasoning skills, reading, instructing, emotional control. Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds), occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) and positioning students with physical disabilities, controlling behavior through appropriate restraint techniques, assisting non-ambulatory students, lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipment, pushing, pulling, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking, standing, repeated bending, specific visual requirements (activity sufficient for reading/writing), specific hearing requirements (activity sufficient to monitor children's safety), traveling (daily, to many settings on and off campus).
