Production Lead - 3rd Shift

JOB PURPOSE: Assist with the day-to-day operations in creating safety culture, effectively training employees, ensuring proper usage, reporting and documentation of all production processes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Train and educate employees on safe operating procedures and proper use of equipment. Conduct regular safety inspections and address any potential hazards promptly. Train new hires on production processes, equipment operation, and safety procedures. Provide ongoing training to existing employees to enhance their skills and productivity. Communicate production progress, issues, and concerns to the production supervisor to include railcar system. Collaborate with other shifts/departments like Quality and Maintenance to resolve any production-related challenges. Maintain and ensure accurate production records, including material usage, production output, quality checks, move tickets and labeling. Complete necessary paperwork such as production reports and shift handover notes when back up to the supervisor. Monitor the usage of raw materials to minimize waste and optimize production efficiency. Ensure correct components are used according to BOM and job traveler. Ensure accuracy of move tickets and labeling of materials and products. Conduct thorough inspections of the first produced items to ensure they meet quality standards. Collaborate with quality control team to address any deviations or non-conformities. Seek approval from the appropriate personnel before proceeding with full-scale production. Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the maintenance team for prompt resolution. Assist with ensuring adequate coverage during employee breaks. Step in and perform production tasks as needed to maintain smooth operations during breaks. Promote and train to maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with 6S standards. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: 1 year experience in injection molding, profile extrusion, blow molding set-up and processing. Mechanical knowledge of all machines, capable of operating all machines with a 3- 4-month training period. Possess developed supervisory and time management skills. Results oriented and ability to use sound judgement, strong written and communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Quality experience is a plus. Availability to work on weekends and as a back-up supervisor as needed. Basic computer skills in MS Office Forklift qualification or able to get certified in the first 3 months. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ability to spend up to 80% or more of the workday walking or standing Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment and a high noise level facility. Non-Toxic fumes may be present at various times during the workday.
