Job Title: Phlebotomist II - MariettaJob DescriptionThe primary role of the Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.Decontaminate and update patient information as required.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.Demonstrate techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles.Understand and follow all physician's orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Ensure the accuracy of test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results.Essential SkillsValid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.2-4 years of recent phlebotomy experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in an outpatient clinic setting.Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.Data entry and customer service skills.OBGYN experience is preferred but not required.Ability to process specimens and order entry.Experience in opening/closing procedures is a plus.Strong attention to punctuality, customer friendliness, and teamwork.Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a clinic located in Marietta, GA, with working hours from 8am-5pm Monday to Thursday, and 8am-12pm on Fridays. The work involves specimen processing, order entry, and customer service. The environment requires being on time, being customer-friendly, and working as part of a team.
