Electromagnetic Engineer
Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Electromagnetic Effects (EME) Engineer with a strong Verification & Validation (V&V) background to support the development, certification, and continued airworthiness of safety‑critical aerospace systems.The role focuses on ensuring compliance with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), high‑intensity radiated fields (HIRF), lightning, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) requirements through rigorous analysis, testing, and V&V activities.The ideal candidate will work closely with systems engineering, design, test, and certification teams to plan, execute, and document EME V&V activities in accordance with regulatory and program standards.Key ResponsibilitiesElectromagnetic Effects Engineering:Perform EME/EMC analyses for avionics and electrical systems, including:Lightning indirect effectsHIRFEMC / EMIESDSupport EME requirements development and allocation at the system, subsystem, and equipment levels.Assess EME impacts on system performance, safety, and compliance throughout the product lifecycle.Verification & Validation (V&V):Develop and maintain EME V&V plans, procedures, and compliance matrices.Define verification methods (analysis, test, inspection, similarity) aligned with certification plans.Support or lead:Laboratory and aircraft‑level EMC testingLightning/HIRF qualification testsEquipment and system‑level verification reviewsReview test data, analyze results, and document compliance findings.Support anomaly investigation, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions related to EME non‑compliances.Standards & Compliance:Ensure compliance with applicable industry and regulatory standards, such as:DO‑160 (EMC, Lightning, HIRF sections)ARP 5412 / 5414 / 5416MIL‑STD‑461 (as applicable)FAA / EASA certification guidelines for EMESupport System Safety Assessments (SSA) by providing EME‑related failure modes, effects, and mitigations.Cross‑Functional Collaboration:Interface with:Systems EngineeringElectrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) teamsAvionics and hardware design teamsTest laboratories and certification authoritiesContribute to technical reviews, audits, and program milestones.Required QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in:Electrical EngineeringElectronics & Communication EngineeringAerospace EngineeringExperience & SkillsHands‑on experience in Electromagnetic Effects / EMC engineering for safety‑critical systems.Strong background in Verification & Validation activities, including test planning and compliance documentation.Working knowledge of aerospace certification processes and design assurance concepts.Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and customer requirements.Experience reviewing or generating:Test plans and proceduresCompliance reportsCertification artifacts
