POSITION OVERVIEW: Field Service Technician responsible for maintaining, servicing, and replacing Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) and fare gate systems on Miami-Dade's light rail transit network. This role requires intermediate-level technical expertise and the ability to work independently while maintaining high service standards for critical transit infrastructure. Entry Level Techs with electronics trade are welcomed to apply! ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Equipment Maintenance & Repair:Maintain, service, and troubleshoot Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) and fare gate systems across Miami-Dade light rail stationsRead and interpret complex schematics, engineering drawings, work orders, technical manuals, and manufacturer specificationsInitialize and commission electronic transit equipment for optimal performanceAnalyze equipment operations to determine malfunctions, troubleshoot errors, repair modules, and replace components as neededPerform preventive maintenance according to established schedules and manufacturer guidelinesRemove and replace faulty equipment using proper procedures and safety protocolsField Operations & Logistics:Operate company van to travel between multiple transit stations throughout Miami-Dade CountyMaintain and manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipmentOrder replacement parts and components from approved vendor parts listsRespond promptly to emergency service calls and equipment failuresCoordinate with transit operations to minimize service disruptionsDocumentation & Reporting:Prepare and maintain detailed service reports, maintenance logs, and equipment recordsDocument all maintenance activities, parts usage, and time spent on each service callSubmit timely reports to supervisors and DADE Transit Authority as requiredUse mobile devices and software applications for real-time reporting and work order managementCommunication & Teamwork:Communicate effectively with transit operations staff, supervisors, and other techniciansCollaborate with team members and demonstrate willingness to learn new technologies and proceduresMaintain professional demeanor when working in public transit environmentsMINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:Education & Experience:Two-year college degree or equivalent in electronics, computer science, information systems, or related technical fieldMinimum 2 years of field service or electronic equipment maintenance experience (intermediate level required - no entry level)Experience with transit equipment, vending machines, or similar electronic systems preferredTechnical Skills:Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computerized maintenance management systemsAbility to obtain solder certification within 90 days of employmentStrong computer literacy and ability to use mobile reporting applicationsExperience with general purpose test equipment, hand tools, and specialized toolingPhysical & Professional Requirements:Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and maneuver heavy equipmentCapability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; climb stairs and work in various weather conditionsValid Florida Driver's License with clean driving recordMust pass comprehensive background check and drug screeningStrong written and oral communication skillsMust be able and willing to work weekends and evenings as needed for emergency repairs and maintenance windowsWork Environment:Outdoor work at various light rail stations throughout Miami-Dade CountyExposure to weather conditions and transit environment noiseFlexible schedule requirements including occasional evenings and weekendsCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS:Salary: $24-$26 per hour (based on experience)Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with occasional evenings and weekends as requiredCompany vehicle provided for field workComprehensive benefits packageTraining and professional development opportunities6-year contract stability with potential for extensionPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Previous experience with transit authority or public transportation systems is plusFamiliarity with Miami-Dade County geography and transit networkExperience working in multicultural urban environmentsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionTO APPLY: All candidates must demonstrate technical competency, professional communication skills, and commitment to supporting critical public transit infrastructure with flexible scheduling availability.NOTE: Other duties may be assigned as needed, like training other techs once you learn the job.
