Automotive Technician - M-F/Full Time Days

Job DescriptionFunctions as a skilled-level technician who can perform diagnoses and repairs in all areas, in addition to being specialized areas of repair and who has previously worked as a general service technician.ResponsibilitiesPerforms work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standardsDiagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repairCommunicates with parts department to obtain needed partsSaves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customerExamines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommendedCommunicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeDocuments all work performed and recommended on the repair orderRoad tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technicianParticipates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and eventsKeeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletinsSupervises work of any apprentice technicians as assignedReports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisorEnsures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicleKeeps shop area neat and cleanMaintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were receivedUnderstands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.Operates all tools and equipment in a safe mannerReports any safety issues immediately to managementOther tasks as assignedQualificationsRequired Education: High School Diploma / GEDPreferred Education: Associates DegreeRequired Experience: Five or more (5+) years of related experience and/or training or equivalent of education and experience in Automotive Repair and Maintenance fieldRequired Certifications and Licensures: The following Automotive Service Excellence Certifications within first 18-24 months of employment: A1 - Engine Repair, A2 - Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, A3 - Manual Drive Train & Axles, A4 - Suspension & Steering, A5 - Brakes, A6 - Electrical/Electronic Systems, A7 - Heating & Air Conditioning, A8 - Engine Performance, E1 - Truck Equipment Installation & Repair, E2 - Electrical/Electronic Systems Installation & Repair, E3 - Auxiliary Power Systems Installation & Repair, Emergency Vehicle Technician certificationPreferred Certifications and Licensures: The following Automotive Service Excellence Certifications: A9 - Light Vehicle Diesel Engines, G1 - Auto Maintenance and Light Repair, L1 - Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification Test, L2 - Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis Specialist Certification Test, T1 - Gasoline Engines, T2 - Diesel Engines, T3 - Drive Train, T4 - Brakes, T5 - Suspension & Steering, T6 - Electrical/ Electronic Systems, T7 - Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), T8 - Preventive Maintenance Inspection
