Must adhere to a philosophy and culture of teamwork and cooperation at all timesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Maintain nursing home staff through recruitment, hiring, training, counseling, evaluating and disciplining current and future members as the situation requires. Discuss and report any staff concerns, with solutions, to the Nursing Home Administrator.Develop policies and procedures for the nursing department and resident care and participate in the implementation of these policies. Monitor day to day execution of care policies and obtain guidance from medical director as needed.Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting and submission of MDS reports to appropriate agencies.In consultation with the inter-department disciplinary team, will develop, implement, follow and monitor admission and discharge planning and the services associated with each resident.Conduct daily rounding with nursing home staff to optimize resident health, safety and satisfaction and promote employee satisfaction and confidence.Participate in nursing home healthcare meetings for residents and provide reports on any major or special concerns to Nursing Home Administrator.Conduct training and education on infection control policies and procedures and monitor nursing department for appropriate application of producers.Work with infection control personnel to create, review and implement policies and procedures for the safe care of residents.Conduct investigations on incidents occurring within nursing home staff, residents and/or facility and create precise reports as mandated by facility policy and State and/or Federal laws and regulations.Complete patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing staff through facility demands and State and Federal laws and/or regulations.In partnership with other departments, prepares operational and capital budgets on an annual basis. Creating, reviewing and submitting reports required by government agencies to ensure appropriate funding.Responsible for creating, implementing, maintaining and reviewing quality care projects within the nursing home nurse staff.Examines budget compliance and reviews inventory process and reports in patient care areas to assure cost containment efforts are maintained.Will collaborate with other departments to ensure optimal care is provided to residents and prepare the nursing department for state surveys and/or inspectionsMaintains documentation of patient care services by inspecting patient physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, auditing patient records and auditing department records.
