The Business Analyst is an individual with current expertise in CorVel’s Care Management or claims management system and related product lines. As a member of the Business Operations Team the candidate will be asked to utilize expertise in a particular product line, but not be limited to projects in that particular area, and frequently collaborate with various subject-matter experts.The position requires excellent listening and problem-solving attributes in addition to effective communication skills. The ability to evaluate alternative options and make decisions is a necessary attribute.The position requires the individual to work in conjunction with CorVel management and field operations to develop consistent enterprise-wide workflow processes. The candidate will translate the consistent workflow processes into business requirements that can be developed into software applications through daily collaboration with the CorVel development team.This is a hybrid role. Candidate will need to attend some conferences and customer meetings.Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesWork with team members, software engineers, and business stakeholders to gain expertise with claims and care management applications and how these function in our production environmentsInteracts with business users, software engineers, technical staff and state experts to help identify, analyze, and implement enhancements as they are requestedWork with business stakeholders to determine new opportunities for automation and increased quality controls in our core productsFollow team protocol for updating, recording and organizing documentationApply process and system knowledge to diagnose and resolve complex business problemsFollow established escalation protocol when issues arise that may cause backlog of release expectationsAcquire extensive business and system knowledgeApply system knowledge to diagnose and resolve complex business problemsWork with business stakeholders to determine new opportunities for automation and increased quality controls in our core productsFollow team protocol for updating, recording and organizing documentationIdentify, document, and communicate all issues discovered in the course of analysis/project researchAdditional duties as assignedKnowledge & SkillsAptitude for learning systems and technical processesAdept at thriving in a fast-paced environment with firm deadlinesAnalytical, problem-solving and resolution skillsDemonstrated ability to manage details and timelines for multiple simultaneous complex projectsAbility to work with technical and non-technical team members with varying communication styles, both locally and remotelyProfessional interpersonal and communications skills, verbal and written Experience with creating and leading presentations and/or conducting training for various levels of usersEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree and/or 5+ years of equivalent work experience in healthcare or medical/pharmaceutical industriesDemonstrated analytical problem-solving skills and technical aptitudeExposure to application development and project management fundamentalsDemonstrated ability to produce consistent, quality work under deadlinesStrong communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel, including the ability to relay complex ideas in simple termsEffective quantitative, analytical and interpretive skillsAdvanced abilities in Microsoft Excel, Word, and OutlookExperience with MS Project and Visio is a plusExperience with Teams, Webex, Zoom or other similar videoconference applications is preferredStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExpertise with the CorVel’s claim system or CareMC preferredHealth industry and/or insurance billing experience a plusProperty & casualty work experience preferredFamiliarity with project management best practices and the creation of workflow documentation preferredExperience with Power BI or similar reporting/analytics tools is a plusPay RangeCorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
