Assistant Teacher - Middle School
Create a Loop - Position Description
Position Description - Position is responsible for supporting the lead teacher in direct in-class programming and technology instruction to middle school students grades fifth through eighth along with Create a Loop staff and volunteers informed by weekly class preparation based on Create a Loop curriculum and other provided resources. Position will also attend planning meetings with executive director and other instructors as well as information sessions as needed.
Salary - $16-20 per hour
Schedule - 20 per week, more hours available if interested. All hours Monday through Friday.
Employment with Create a Loop is at-will; you or Create a Loop may terminate employment at any time for any reason not prohibited by law with or without prior notice.
This offer is contingent on the successful completion of a background check and upon validating employment eligibility documentation.
Minimum Requirements
●Experience with students in upper elementary, middle school or high school
● Experience with classroom management and positive behavior reinforcement.
● Experience and comfort using a variety of technology equipment and multiple OS/platforms.
● Effective verbal and written communication skills
● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and the public.
Duties and Responsibilities
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:
Class Duties
● Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of lessons by using prep time to study lesson plans and complete all student activities.
● On weeks without in-class lessons, develop experience with and understanding of course programming and computer science objectives by completing online coursework
Class Instruction
● Participate in active in-class instruction
● Support lead teacher in classroom management and instruction
● Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions
● Substitute for other instructors in case of an absence.
Contribute to Create a Loop Mission and Goals
● Maintain familiarity with Create a Loop goals, mission, and long-range plans.
● Contribute to planning and development processes through appropriate mechanisms and channels.
● When appropriate, participate in the marketing, recruitment, and retention of students, volunteers and staff.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
