Public Accountant
About the Role
Our client, a reputable and growing public accounting firm, is seeking a Public Accountant to join their professional services team. This position will play a key role in supporting client engagements, performing audit and assurance work, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate has experience in public accounting, strong technical skills, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality client service.
Key Responsibilities for the Public Accountant:
Assist with financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations across a diverse client base.
Perform detailed audit procedures, including testing of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Support clients with accounting questions, reconciliations, and process improvements.
Identify, research, and resolve accounting and audit issues as they arise.
Maintain accurate workpapers and documentation of audit procedures.
Collaborate with engagement managers and senior accountants to meet client and project deadlines.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and professionalism.
Qualifications for the Public Accountant:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
5-15 years of experience in public accounting (audit experience preferred).
Strong understanding of GAAP and audit standards.
Proficiency with accounting and audit software; experience with CaseWare, CCH, or similar tools is a plus.
Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements.
CPA certification or progress toward CPA is preferred.
