Summer Staff Conference Center One-on-One Student Aide Team Lead
Position Objective:
The One on One Student Aide Team Lead position will help lead the summer staff team in conjunction with the Special Needs Coordinator and is the assistant/primary caretaker for children and students 0-18 years old with cognitive, emotional, or physical special needs, as well as provide a consistent, stable, and supportive environment for children in the Child Care or Day Camp programs for children ages birth to 12 years old when needed, all in a manner consistent with Mount Hermon’s mission, vision, and values.
General Qualifications:
The One on One Student Aide Team Lead is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships, and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon’s mission, vision, and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading Mount Hermon’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.
Key Job Accountabilities:
Assist children with physical mobility and care for children’s basic hygienic needs.
Lead team meetings as needed and provide support to team members as needed.
Support children in participating in group activities.* Help kids encounter God and others by partnering with department teams and leads in all aspects of discipleship; implementing curriculum.
Provide clear and open communication with parents regarding their child/children’s well-being, with special attention to health, safety and discipline.
Share in the responsibilities of keeping camp areas, including workspaces and supplies, clean and orderly.
Help provide a consistent, stable, safe, and supportive environment for the children in their care so that they may experience camp as best suited to the child’s abilities.
Provide one on one assistance to children with special needs when required. In this case, the assistant will accompany only child with special needs throughout the session, helping them to join the group when possible, and offering alternative activities for that child when necessary with the support of the Special Needs Coordinator.
Engage the students in customized activities when they are unable to participate with the rest of the group.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Conduct Midsummer Evaluations with team members
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
CPR/First Aid certifications (before arriving at camp)
Work Experience:
Experience working with or caring for children.
Previous experience working with students with special needs and/or kids ages birth to 6th grade.
Previous experience working with the One on One Student Aide Department desired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to establish priorities, work independently, without supervision, and make choices in the best interest of child.
Ability to be on-call and flexible at work with short notice.
A heart to serve whenever needed.
Ability to communicate openly and effectively with child, his/her guardians, and Supervisor.
Must feel comfortable working with and around individuals with social, cognitive, or physical special needs.
Ability to be calm, responsible, resourceful, kind, trustworthy, reliable, and have a genuine love for and interest in working with children.
Ability to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction.
Physical Demands:
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in a variety of elements (hot/cold, dry/wet, day/night).
Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, swimming, running, climbing, pulling, and pushing.
Ability to lift/carry a minimum of 25 lbs.
Additional Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age due to the requirement for onsite community living.
Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s mission, vision, values, and commitment statements.
Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Pay: $327.00 - $408.00 per week
Work Location: In person
