Certified Nurse AssistantThe certified nursing assistant (CNA) will provide basic care to medically fragile student, faculty and staff. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:Provides adjunct care to students including ice packs, heat treatments, temperature checks and distribute medicine under the direct supervision of the District NurseMaintains student stability by checking vital signs and recording intake and output of information if so neededProvides resources and materials and reports observations of the student to District Nurse, Principal and parents as neededDocuments actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and recordsMaintains work operations by following District policies and proceduresProtects organization's value by keeping student information confidentialServes and protects Bellwood School District 88 by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures; federal, state, and local requirementsUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensureMinimum qualifications and experience:Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminologyKnowledge of relevant nursing careFriendly and professional bedside mannerMaintains current CPR certificationMulti-tasking skillsEffective oral, written, and reading communication skillsUnderstands legal implications of student/patient careEducation and experience requirements:Certification with accredited training course through the State of Illinois and current certification through American Heart Association in Basic Life2 years of nursing assistant experienceAppropriate license
