This may be the opportunity you didn't know you were waiting for.About the Opportunity: Support AccountantA long-established, values-driven nonprofit organization in the Portland area is expanding its finance team and seeking a Community Support Accountant to provide accounting and bookkeeping support to multiple entities and locations across the Portland metro area.This is a hybrid, traveling role, typically spending 2-3 days per week on-site at different locations, with flexibility for remote work depending on business needs. No overnight travel is required. Each week offers a mix of locations, responsibilities, and meaningful connection to the organization's mission. You'll be a trusted financial partner-bringing clarity to numbers, confidence to leadership, and steady support to teams doing important work in the community.Responsibilities of the Role: Support AccountantPerform full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple assigned entities and locationsManage day-to-day accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and bank/credit card reconciliationsProcess vendor invoices, payments, and deposits in accordance with internal controls and accounting policiesPrepare journal entries, account analyses, and monthly financial statementsSupport month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and reportingAssist with budgets, cash flow forecasting, and internal controlsSupport fixed assets and depreciation schedulesProvide light HR-related support such as benefits administration and personnel file maintenance Preferred Qualification: Support Accountant Experience in nonprofit, fund accounting, or multi-entity environments strongly preferredProficiency in QuickBooks (Online preferred; Desktop a plus) and Microsoft ExcelStrong communication skills and a collaborative, service-oriented approachWillingness and ability to travel locally throughout the Portland metro area Why This Role Stands Out Purpose-driven work that directly supports local communitiesA stable, well-established organization with a collaborative finance teamBuilt-in variety through a mix of locations and responsibilitiesTiming is everything.
