ELECTRICIAN
Description:
SUMMARY: The Electrician performs a wide variety of electrical installation and maintenance work on plant electrical systems, equipment and apparatus to furnish an uninterrupted flow of power and lighting, maintain operation of electronic devices. The Electrician plans layouts and installs complex wiring circuits and distribution centers in conformance with established codes. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager with a dotted line to the Greenhouse General Manager. The Electrician possesses initiative and can make quick decisions when working on projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Non-Essential Functions are preceded by an *)
Conducts electrical installations, including but not limited to; running conduit, sizing wire, based on NEC requirements
Troubleshoots and repairs all electrical equipment per NEC requirements
Works with voltages as high as 480 – 3 Phase
Installs and maintains machinery and controls to meet or exceed NEC requirements
Maintains lighting and all electrical equipment
Works with programmable controllers (program, edit, and troubleshooting)
Works on installing switches, controls, central and subsidiary control panels, electrical devices and other gear incidental to the installation
Diagnoses electrical troubles, repairs replace apparatus
Must be able to form wiring diagrams, schematic drawings and codebook; using all required electrical measuring and testing devices as needed
May instruct and layout work for apprentices
Can work under minimum or no supervision for at least 6+ hours on a work day
Creates and maintains electrical documents and SOPs
Performs preventative maintenance duties as needed
Maintains job-related inventory
Performs mechanical and other duties as assigned
Maintains up-to-date technical training
Adheres to all Company’s Food Safety procedures and policies
Attends all Company’s training meetings as required
Trains other personnel as required
Requirements:
8+ hours during the workday involves walking in the Greenhouse under hot temperatures. Some hours involve working in cool warehouses/production areasCapable of lifting and carrying a minimum of 50 pounds without assistanceIf needed per Supervisor request
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma/GED required
5+ Years industrial electric/controls experience
Reads and writes and comprehend English
Basic math
Successful completion of an approved Industrial Electrician Apprenticeship-Journey-level status/Or equivalent experience in the Electrical Trade
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of PLC programming
